ibs and smoking

Hi i stopped smoking 10 days ago and now my ibs c seems to have got worse,i have tightness in my right ribs i cant even bend over and just feel so full,has anyone else experienced this,help i`m going crazy!!!!

I've never smoked, so don't know about this specifically, but I think IBS tends to react to any stress that your body is feeling. And although obviously giving up smoking is going to be good for you in the long run, I would guess that it might be making you stressed on some level in the short term, which is probably going to make itself felt in your guts if you're already prone to IBS...

I had this when I gave up smoking over 4 years ago and I'm afraid to say I still have it sometimes Do you normally take medication for the IBS? If you don't then get to the docs.

Don't worry about it though, you will feel better that you're not smoking

thankyou for your replies,yes i take ibs colpermin for my ibs,its always good to be able to talk to someone who understands just how you feel.
