flight anxiety 5mg diazepam

Hello,

I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder earlier this year. I have been feeling better but I am flying over to Spain to visit my parents on Tuesday morning and I am feeling very anxious about it! I went to the doctor and was prescribed 5mg diazepam to take when i board the plane. I have been a frequent flyer since I was young and flying has never bothered me but with this disorder I am fearing the worst.

I did try a pill last week, but I wasn't feeling anxious at the time, it just made me sleep (after sleeping all day as I work nightshift). Ill also be awake from tomorrow morning right through to Tuesday morning for the flight (7.45am) as I will be travelling to Glasgow airport. What time should I take a pill if im feeling anxious? I don't want to fall asleep and miss the flight! Will 5mg be enough to calm me down?

Any help/advice would be massively appreciated!!

Never be frightened of these meds if you only take them occasionally as they can be a great help. About an hour before. Good luck.

Hi,
Depends on how bad your anxiety is.
You could take the tab when ur in the departure lounge.
It works within 25 mins.
If it's Not enuf, u could try ONE drink too, which will help.
However, if you haven't had any sleep for over 24 hours also. You might fall asleep On the plane.
5 mg valuum is not strong enuf to PUT you to sleep,
But should help you to rekax
