    waking up with racing heart

Sometimes at night i wake up and my heart is racing but it settles down in a few minutes. IT scares me alot when it happens. It's almost like hte littlest noises scare me awake. Anyone else have these feelings?

    Very common.

Just let it settle down and get some more sleep

happens to me on a daily basis, around 7-8am everyday i get "startled" awake and my heart is "racing" and i am super anxious. I thought i had figure out how to "ignore it" and go back to bed, but i seem to be getting worse at it!

I wake up like this EVERY DAY and I hate it. I guess it's because I'm so anxious. Sometimes I can listen to my iPod and drift off again, but normally I just have to get up, be it 4am or whenever. It's never later than 6am. Been like it for ages, but really bad this year, but I have been very stressed. It's horrid.

Mamabear I've had this happen too, waking up with my heart racing in the middle of the night. I thought I was having panic attacks in my sleep too, which made no sense to me.

Turns out it was acid reflux! When you lie down it's much easier for the acid to come out of your stomach and irritate nerves that can give you heart palpitations. It's not dangerous, but it is a nuisance.

This may be what you're experiencing too. Do you have problems with reflux or do you notice that your stomach feels tight and upset when you wake up?
