    Complementary Therapies

Has anyone tried anything? My dr suspects I have endometriosis after my pelvic scan. His options are to try going on the pill but I can't take combined as I get migraine with aura and I react badly to progesterone (had to have implant removed as I couldn't leave the house for anxiety). The other option is to be referred to gynae and probably have a laparoscopy. I don't really want to go down that route at this stage even though I'm desperate having had pelvic pain for 6 months now.

I've heard accupuncture is supposed to be good for anxiety and has had some success in reliving the pain of endometriosis although it's not been clinically approved.

Anyone tried anything and had success or not?

I had acupuncture about 9 years ago and it didn't do anything for me other than give me a few bruises
I do know other people who say it has helped them though.

Has my thread been moved? Sorry if I've posted it in the wrong place!

Annie do you mind me asking what you had it for? Part of me wants to try it but it's so expensive if it's pointless!

I have been seeing a naturopath which is working wonders. I would highly recommend seeing a reputable natural therapist - they know a lot about how bodies work and how to fix them - much more so than doctors and specialist (as backwards as that sounds!). Happy to share any info you would like to know.

I think doctors know exactly how the body works, hence the six years of training.....

I have not heard of acupuncture being used for anxiety although I will give this more research. I don't like needles so the thought makes my skin crawl, lol!

    Re: Complementary Therapies

If doctors knew how bodies worked then they would be able to offer advice as to how we can get well and we wouldn't need forums like this. I saw several doctors when I was really ill and the only one who actually helped me was the one who referred me on to a naturopath. I now work with her and my naturopath and this doctor has admitted that the health system is backwards and doctors can't help with many problems. Yes they can prescribe drugs that may or may not alleviate symptoms, but when do they actually try to address the root of the cause? They have next to no nutritional training and most of the "science" they rely on to make diagnosis and prescribe medication comes, not surprisingly, from drug companies. And in the meantime we are told that our symptoms are psychosomatic and have to come to forums like this to find comfort. Doctors are fantastic for acute situations - broken bones, open wounds etc etc, but putting your general health in their hands and especially chronic illnesses, is one sure way of never addressing the cause but simply covering up the symptoms (which more often than not doesn't work).
