Sertraline - Cross Tapering from Mirtazapine

Hi Guys, I have been on 45mg Mirt since May, and while it helped me to sleep at a lower dose it's not really done anything (other than made me gain weight).

Anyway, GP wants me to switch from mirt to sertraline. Does anyone have any experiences with cross tapering this combo?

GP advised to take mirt every other night for a week then stop and start the sertraline - to me this seems:

    1) Way too fast to reduce mirt
    2) Way too long to wait on taking the sertraline

I suffer from GAD and take Pregabalin (Which has been a godsend).

    Andy

Im on 45mg and switching to a new med, mine goes like this

    30mg for one week
15mg for second week with half dose of new med
0mg third week full dose of new med.

This was not a GP that did this but a consultant so I guess yours seems a little fast compared to what I am doing.

Already feeling the affects of 3 days on the smaller 30mg dose :(

Thanks for the reply fella, sorry to read that you are feeling a bit crap on the lower dose..

I was considering remaining on 45mg AND taking the sertraline until the sertraline was in my system, then reducing the mirt...

I have been on an SSRI before and i'm not looking forward to the anxiety increase that goes along with starting a new med and having to deal with mirt withdrawl at the same time...

Hopefully the pregabalin will take the edge off.... sigh....
