Had to adjust my citalopram dosage..zero sex drive

Hi there,

I;m new to this site..I'm a 30 year old male.I have anxiety, Ptsd, Depression, among other ailments..So my doctor put me on 40 mg of Citalopram 7 years ago, Things seemed to be working well for awhile, Then i started noticing i was not interested in sex ..I mean (zero) Interest. This caused me to lose my girl friend. I told my doctor what was happening with me he reduced my dosage from 40 mg down to 20mg. It only took afew weeks before i noticed my sex drive come back..This seems to be a huge problem with alot of people who take citalopram.. Both men and women..I'm so excited that i found this web site..Looking forward to finally feeling better.I have not talked to anyone about my personal issues. Does feel good knowing i'm not alone with my problems.

Yes, definitely! Even on the low dose I'm on at the moment 5 mg I still haven't found my sex drive. I heard that maca is meant to improve your sex drive so I've tried that but it doesn't seem to be working that well!

I'm hoping once I'm off completely I'll find it again!!

I think it really does make a massive difference to your life and doctors should warn you! As you've said, it's caused you to lose your girlfriend, that's a terrible side effect!

Hope you're feeling better on 20mg. The maca root might work for you as you're a man if you want to do a little research? I'm persisting with it as I'm hoping it'll balance my hormones at the very least.

It might be worth a try if you're going to stay on citalopram?
