    Myeloma??? HELP!

Oh my god please someone give me some advice.

I have had various symptoms for well over 1 year now, headaches, sweats and blah blah.

Since Feb 13 I have been testing high for serum vitamin b12, 790 and 880 with the normal region being below 660.

My GP wrote to a blood specialist and he said do some various blood tests which included Immunoglobins.

I got the results of these today all is normal bar igA which is raised. my b12 has decreased from my last test but is still high.

So I have raised B12 and Raised igA now I am in full blown panic that I have Myeloma.

My Gp is referring me to the blood specialist.

Raised iga - not something to worry about on it's own. My advice us to stop focusing on the doom and gloom scenarios. You're going to flatten yourself with stress before much longer

Trust your doctor, as it's probable that he's making sure that everything is ruled out rather than being left to chance

To be honest I know nothing about Myeloma, but if there were things screaming cancer in your results then you would be at the hospital now and not typing a post on here. The little I do know is that myeloma is extraordinarily rare.

I know I would struggle in the same position but try and assume the best and be surprised if it is the worst rather than the other way around. Because in all very high likelihood you are worrying about nothing.

Thanks for the replies, I know I really should not be using dr google, but I have been reading about igA and gluten intolerance and now I'm wondering if this would explain this while probably being far more likely then Myeloma.

Reason I'm wondering is because I saw this mentioned that igA is mainly from the gut/mucous membranes.

While over the last 2 years I have had periods where I get quite badly bloated stomach with gas and cramps and when they happen my stomach hurts for around 2 days after on the right side of my belly button. This actually happened again just 3 days prior to the antibody tests.

I also seem to have IBS type symptoms, actually been to toilet 3 times today for loose stools each time.

Maybe it would be worth getting my GP to check my antibodies vs gluten?

    Other symptoms I have are:

    Headaches
    Excessive Sweating
Neuropathy - pins and needles/ burning sensations of my hands
Keratosis Pilaris - I have this quite extreme on my back, arms and legs - so extreme in fact that 10 years ago a dermatologist took pics to show students, funny thing is its listed in the gluten intolerance signs.

    Re: Myeloma??? HELP!

If it helps give you perspective - my brother has leukemia. It's not the kind you can cure either. Anyway, when it was first suspected his investigative tests went from 0 - 60 very quickly and his full diagnosis came back within a couple of weeks. That included bone marrow testing, scans, the lot. They don't leave 8 or 9 months in between to see if things 'settle down'.

All being well your fine, and your imagination (like many of us on NMP) is more than a little over active
