IBS d. Anyone got any food/ OTC meds advice?

    Hi
I have had bouts of diarrhoea for just about as long as I've had anxiety.
So GP says they are interlinked.

However, the ibs diarrhoea is getting worse.
It comes on suddenly, usually after eating,(not always)
Makes me rush to the loo. And may take 3 or 4 evacuations (sorry)
Before I am eventually just passing clear water.

It is the water thing that is worrying me.
    I don't think it's mucus because it's clear
And the water in the toilet is clear.
This has happened probably once a month for three months

Every time it's happened I had been eating a lot of chocolate.
BUT, there had been PLENTY of days when I've eaten the same or more and not had the d. I have scrutised my diet, stress etc to see what could be th trigger

I get sooo weak with the d. I feel very nausea sand hot. The I get the MAJOR PANIC attacks. Is this normal?
It takes me about 2 days to recover. Every mouthful if food worries me so much incase I have another bout of d.

Also what scared me this time was, I took Imodium and it didn't help AT All!!
I have a BIG fear of taking Meds. And just take Imodium as a last resort.

So does anyone have ANY advice on what I could take, for a quick effect.
    Herbal or OTC?

    Thanks xx

I have IBS and have all my life, pretty much. It's got worse as time's passed.

I don't take meds for it. Instead I've slowly worked out what to avoid - I'm gluten free, am ok with lactose, some fruit, some veg, sugary stuff, meat, eggs, fish.

I can get diarrhoea is suddenly panicked. When that happens I do feel washed out - bear in mind that your body has completely evacuated everything.

Talk to your doctor. They're very reassuring and can guide and advise you

    Hi

This is just a courtesy reply to let you know that your post was moved from its original place to a sub-forum that is more relevant to your problem.

This is nothing personal - it just enables us to keep posts about the same problems in the relevant forums so other members with any experience with the issues can find them more easily.

The first bit of advice I'd give you is to stop eating chocolate.

It may not be diet related, so if looking for particular triggers before this happens hasn't shown anything, it might just be the IBS kicking off for other reasons such as stress, anxiety, etc.

If you're ok with bananas, try having one every day - they can have a binding effect so might help with the diarrhea, also a weird tip someone once told me - marshmallows. Those pink & white squishy ones you can buy in a bag, apparently they also slow things down.

If you drank a cup or two of dioralyte after a very watery episode, you'd get over it a lot quicker, so something to bear in mind & maybe keep some in the house just in case. The blackcurrant flavour is the easiest to drink, I've found.

    Thanks everyone for your replies.
I do have a banana everyday
I will try the dioralyte and see if it will speed up this washed out feeling
And def will try the marshmallows, (sweet tooth)

I am a chocoholic! So I wudv find it hard to stop eating it.
If I got diarrhoea EVERY time I are chocolate I def would give it up
But it's just sometimes when I eat it, so logic tells me it's not the choc.
....unless it's the caffine in the choc, when I'm already stressed (and I'm not aware I'm stressed)
    Xxxx
