    Diy reducing fluoxetine

has anyone tried putting a hole in the 20 mg capsule and emptying out some of the powder? just wondering if this would be effective if we only wanted to take 10 -15 mg of the actual medicine?

You could open the capsule and dissolve it in water? I've done that before and its fairly easy to get the capsules open after some practice.

You could also ask your GP for liquid fluoxetine - its cheap and he/she would have no problems prescribing it.

Ask for liquid I wouldn't recommend DIY guessing how much is in a capsule as you could end up taking different amounts everyday n that wouldn't be good x

You don't need to put a hole in the capsule or dissolve it in water. You can just pull the capsule apart, empty a bit out and then put the capsule back together and then swallow it. Its pretty simple. Thats what I do.

The problem with emptying part of it out is that your dosage may vary from day to day. Adding it to water means that you can maintain roughly the same dosage for the long term. Yes, you may get a bit more one day, but fluoxetine has a half life the best part of a week, so as long as you take in the same amount every 4 days or so, it shouldn't have any affect on your body.
