Burning red eyes!

Hi everyone!

I had a cold about three weeks ago and after it went away, my eyes started suddenly burning so that it was difficult to keep them open. This burning has continued ever since, some days are worse than others. Also I have some red veins in my eyes and my inner eyelids are red. I went to the dictor who didn't see anything wrong, but thought I had dry eyes.

The thing is, I've been using lubricating eye drops constantly, also tried allergy drops, and there's no relief. Also, the burning started so suddenly and before that I had no eye symptoms. I also have some aching on my cheekbones and jaw, but my sinuses are clear.

I had a very stressful christmas and I've been suffering from anxiety and depression for months, and now this eye problem is making my anxiety even worse... I'm afraid I have Sjogren's syndrome!

Could my eye symptoms be all from anxiety/ eye strain? Has anyone experienced something similar?

(I'm not on medication at the moment.)

Hey! Sorry to hear you had a stressful Christmas!

My sister had exactly what you've just described with her eyes!

You need to go to the opticians, not the docs as they are specialised in that area.

They gave my sister a few different drops and within a week she was startimg to feel much better.

Thank you for your reply! I have been trying many different eye drops and one of them I bought from the optician... Still they burn :-( Maybe it's a virus?
