I know this sounds silly but...

    Hi everyone

For a good while I was feeling good up until I got a colonoscopy today and its brought back my anxiety. Basically I'm worrying about the sedative. When they put the needle in my hand and put the sterile water into it first I noticed an air bubble left just below the cap so now I'm panicking that when they put the sedative in after the sterile solution that the air bubble was pushed into my vein! I always remember a nurse saying to me that you have to tap needles to get rid of air bubbles and now I'm in panic mode. Should I call a nurse to talk to them?

Nah.... you'd have to have a lot of air pumped into your veins before it would become even a slight issue. You should have seen all the bubbles that went into me during chemo and such... Sheesh!

I actually asked about that and was told just what I told you.

Thank you for making me feel a bit better. It's weird, there's a possibility of UC yet I'm worrying about the sedative the whole time from when I was getting it to now! It just appeared to be quite a big air bubble so I was worried. Hope you're feeling ok?

Considering the alternative, I'm doing just fine

Was the colonoscopy painful ? Did they not give you the results straight away ?
I agree about the air bubble and I think if it's a lot of air it's kills you in minutes ,
    Keep well x

Yes I found it painful as I opted for no sedation at first but when they started they had barely put the scope in when I asked for it as I could feel the air rising. The colon area looks inflamed and there were ulcers but they have taken biopsies and sent them off, the rest of my bowel looks fine. My brother has UC so the specialist saying given that my brother has it etc its a possibility.
Thanks for the advice on the air bubble. I have such a phobia of medication etc being put into my body.
Fishmanpa I'm glad you're ok considering...

Glad I read this as that's been one of my many worries, I'd be panicking the same
