    Dr Claire Weekes on Facebook

    https://www.facebook.com/DrCWeekes

Snippets of quotes from Claire Weekes' audio tapes and self-help books bring the legendary doctor back to life and I certainly find them both inspiring and comforting to have in my newsfeed.

Social media at its best IMO.

    Nice page, good quotes.
Be careful you are not constantly reminding yourself you have anxiety. Part of recovery is forgetting there was something wrong with you and if nervous illness quotes crop up everywhere in your daily life you will always have it on your mind and you will always be prompted to keep fighting the battle, even if you're pretty much out the other side. There will come a point when anxiety quotes and things will seem yucky and remind of the past, that will be a good day.

Good point, Pancho. I have listened to some of Claire Weeke's stuff. She can be very inspirational and insightful. On the other hand... due to her era, she does sometimes come across as stern and uses terms that are no longer commonplace such as "nervous illness"! It can be quite confusing, amusing and yet comforting all at the same time. Like having an elderly Aussie aunt talk to you about anxiety.

Sorry but due to being an old person I would still refer to it as a nervous illness. So..what would you prefer to call it then? Enlighten me...

Anxiety/Depression? Generalised anxiety disorder? I wasn't meaning to offend. I think Claire Weekes is great. Just her terminology and attitude is dated. She was a strong and clever lady. She broke new ground but things have moved on (thanks to her in no small part)

That happens to be my fur and I don't take it off after a hard day of anxiety-ing or whatever it is I do. I collect nuts and save them for harsh times. Wait... now even I'm confused as to whether or not I'm pretending to be a squirrel or just me. Either way, I feel we have hijacked this thread with inane nonsense. Sorry, NE21!
