Hi
This is just a courtesy reply to let you know that your post was moved from its original place to a sub-forum that is more relevant to your problem.
This is nothing personal - it just enables us to keep posts about the same problems in the relevant forums so other members with any experience with the issues can find them more easily.

In my experience, three days on an SSRI is not enough time to see if it will work for you. You will find a lot of good information in the citalopram forum. Many people have a difficult time adjusting to medication and that's quite normal with anxiety. If you have great concerns about the medication, you should speak to your physician. Citalopram can be very effective in treating anxiety and depression but it takes time. Nothing is a miracle cure though. What other types of things are you doing to help your anxiety?

Lots of initial side effects Cartwheels...check the posts on here.
I am 3 months in and pleased to report not many side effects. The worst one for me was nausea and then a fuzzy head and more anxiety of all things to top it off!
Lots of help and support on this section.

Life is a roller coaster...you just gotta ride it a day at a time
(Cit 40mg)
The first couple of weeks are horrible, I had nausea, dilated pupils, dry mouth, bad hot sweats, mood seemed to get worse...but 3 weeks in and most of that has subsided. I still get hot sweats if I have to go out and the depression hasn't vanished but im more stable than I was...some days I can even laugh along with my family. I still would rather stay in the house though...Im at the docs for a check today and think she may up my dose. I'm on 20mg like you.
It does get better, it takes time though and the side effects you are having will lessen x
thanks for replys, decided to cut tablets in half so 10mg instead of 20mg and make an appointment at the docs to see what he advises. symtoms seem better today not felt sick or cold, got slight headache and slight dry mouth . so hopefully might be adapting.
:)
It does subside, to some extent I felt like I could of got the advisory slip out and played bingo, had most and some not even on there. But noticeable improvement overall, now moving up to 40mg so expecting to go through that again.
I think the key advice is stick with it, it helps, but it hurts before it works.
