    Back to square one ...again

    Hi All

After being on citalopram for a year and half i felt much better so in december i tapered down slowly and came off them i have been ok up until mid january when i got the lump in throat which progressed to painful and trouble swallowing , i had a barium swallow and have got a spasm in my oesophagus which is stopping my food and drink going down properly not sure if it is anxiety related or not ....but it is making me soooo anxious at the moment im so annoyed cause i was doing really well
Dr has started me on omeprozole and said to go back on the cit 2 days in on 2.5mg (ive cut 10mg up as i had bad side effects first time ) im hoping they will work again but know they take a while just wish i was able to eat and drink properly its really getting me down ,and i know its not going to help my throat
Just so scared of going back to the way i was a few years back and of the side affects from the cit

    Hi Hun

Sorry to read you are not feeling so good:(

Does the spasm thing make you not swallow? I agree with you about the eating though, it's awful when we can't keep anything down. Can you maybe swallow complan or something similar?

This is bound to have brought your anxiety on. Whenever I feel ill or have an injury, my anxiety goes through the roof.

Your tabs are such a low dose so hopefully you won't experience too many side effects.

You got through it last time and you will this. Our minds have a real nasty way of reminding us of the horrible times.

    Sending you big hugs xxxx

    Thanks Jackie

Yes the spasms are stopping the food /drink going down on first swallow but it does go down very slowly sometimes it gets stuck and comes back up though so is really putting me off eating it is also making my throat feel tight and painful as if somethings stuck

my anxiety is getting really bad at the moment

I Am being referred to a specialist but god knows how long that will take

im hoping the cit will help my throat relax a bit but know i need to up the dose just sacred of the side effects on top of the throat problem

    sooo frustrating !!!!

    Angel,
I am exactly the same with Citalopram SE's and restarted myself 7 weeks ago on 2.5mgs. I did 3 weeks on 2.5 then 3 weeks on 5 now nearly a week on 7.5. So far so good. I felt a huge difference after the first week. So I hope you do too
