Don't worry but go to a Dr.

I saw blood before. Not once but multiple times without hesitation I went to my doctor and told her. She ordered a CBC a stool test for bugs. And an abdominal ultra sound. After those came back normal I requested not once but twice for a gastrointestinal specialist ref feral where he ran a FIT test.
But you know all this already because I've told you before.
There dark blood can be dried blood or blood from the upper intestine that has been digested. Medications and other things can cause bleeding.
Either way you need to either get a new doctor that will listen to your symptoms or tell them that you are seeing dark blood in your stool this alone is reason enough to investigate internally.
I'm not a doctor but you can't keep guessing or second guessing your symptoms. You'll end up going mad...
I suggest make an appointment with your doctor and tell then you are seeing blood. Dark blood. Tell them you've seen it multiple times now even if you havent. Get the tests you want that will settle your mind or diagnose you with something that can be addressed. According to my FIT test my doctor said tumors or digestive issues don't bleed all the time. So it may be nothing but you should get tests to figure out where it's coming from or came from.
No body here can tell you what you want to hear except your doctor with proper tests. The tests are easy non invasive and mostly cheap.
I don't mean to come off stern or mean but I would seek medical help if I saw dark colored blood.
blood of any colour can be serious but generally you don't need to worry unless its black. Always go to a Dr though
It just happens sometimes, even if it was a lot of blood, for a lot of people its just a tear which will heal on its own, you may need to eat more fiber if its that but I'm sure your DR will discuss that with you.

I am going back to doc this week. Will ask for a stool test. What else should I ask for? I don't want to lie about my symptoms but I do want to be taken seriously.
I had an abdo ultrasound last year but thought this wasn't very good at checking out bowels?

What tests should I ask for?

Also with the FiT test, which I just realised is a poo test... if it doesn't bleed all the time how can a fit test actually diagnose or help?
Good luck at the doc. Rather than turn up with a list of tests to be run, it might be better to turn up with a list of symptoms and discuss what conditions you're worried about. Don't be afraid to ask why he/she doesn't think you have (insert illness here). Sometimes knowing why it's definitely not what you're scared of can be immensely reassuring.
Anyway, hope it goes well. Best wishes.
I posted a link in previous topic about the FIT.
It's 87% effective in catching blood in samples because it's done microscopic.
As far as the bleeding goes? It's just a statistic that tumors or pulps hemerroids don't always bleed. Which is why the test is done 2x on different days. For different bowel movements.
Basically if it was me going to the doctor for you. I would say this.
based on what I've read you say.
1.change of bowel habits
2.unexplained weight loss
3.blood while wiping
Just don't over think it. Go to the doctor and just have a conversation like we have on the forums here.
But I'll tell you what my gastrointestinal told me.
FIT 87% effective
CT scan with dye is only effective on the outer layer and doesn't always show internal.
Endoscopy is 99% effective but internally only.
So that's where it's at. In my case the FIT was the cheapest less invasive no blood markers. From CBC. And no blood in Stool meant no case to sell the insurance company to cover my invasive procedures..
Thanks for the replies.
Mbarger, do you mind if I ask a few questions?
Why did the doc order an ultrasound for your symptoms?
What do you mean when you say "from cbc"
Your Fit came back clear, was this enough to put your mind at ease?
If the fit came back clear, did you get any explanation for your symptoms?
