    Withdrawl

    Hi folks I'm currently taking 75 mg prolonged release effexor whick Iv been on for over a year it has def helped with my anxiety but the sideffects lately have been unbearable today I have taken my first 37.5 tab to try start wean off I am really scared about this and was wondering if anybody had done the same and what sideffects ect they had experienced doing this thanks for any help folks

    I know that it is reportedly hard to wean yourself off venlafaxine as it is meant to have significant "discontinuation" symptoms especially when tapering down to lower doses however we are all different so what may happen to one individual may not apply to another.

    If you really feel that the drug's side effects are outweighing its therapeutic effects then I would confer with your GP/psychiatrist and see whether they would suggest a decrease to 37.5mg. Maybe you would be better off on another med or your area may offer a quick referral for psychological therapy? If meds are not for you then you shouldn't feel forced into taking them.
