Mirtazapine is actually said to be less sedating during the day at higher doses, as higher doses increase noradrenaline (wakefulness) but don't affect histamine (sedation). Also, at a higher dose I find it still helps with sleep at night.

Daytime drowsiness usually goes down within a week or so. After that, you can experiment a bit to find the best dose for you. Good luck!

    Thanks
Have to find something else. I was slurring and nearly tripped over. This would knock a horse out. Only took 7.5mg too

I was knocked out for seven for a week on Mirtazapine 15mg. It is a nightmare but once you get over that week it does get a lot better. For some people waiting a week is just too long.

    Hi Brazil.

I'm not a horse, and I can take tons of mirtazapine without much effect (wish it had more). We're all different, but I recommend a few more days until things settle, then you can make a decision about what is best for you.

    Hi Aprilmoon,

I don't want to hijack Brazil's thread, but I'm fine. I woke feeling definitely not so good, but I think mostly due to the pile of 70 or so student writing assignments I have that I have put off correcting and grading - they have to be returned on Tuesday and Wednesday. Also other work piling up with one deadline on Tuesday, and another .. maybe now.

But at least the summer break is looming at the beginning of August - I'm planning a trip up the Rhine, if all goes well.. Just get through the next six weeks or so.
