I've given myself a pat on the back

    Hi Guys

I know this is silly, but I wanted to share it. I bought our christmas cards nearly 3 weeks ago. I knew I had to write them, but just couldn't do it, I couldn't face it. I kept finding all sorts of silly excuses and reasons not to do it; yesterday I wrote 4 and thought that's it - thats my lot for the day.

Well this morning, despite having only 3 1/2 hours sleep, I've written all of them - every single bl**dy one - all 70!!!

My hands were trembling, stomach in knots and churning, but I did it. Now I've got to get in the car, drive to the post office and post them. And what am I doing - I'm online - any excuse not to go. I am going, I WILL go, just not at this moment. How ridiculous is this!!

    Thanks guys

The cards are posted. I actually sat in the post office putting all the stamps on - seemed as though I was there for ages!! At the same time I collected a script from the GP and called at the butchers to collect some milk.

Tomorrow I'm going into Exeter for christmas shopping, and to the big Sainsbury's for a big shop - not on my own though, hubby's coming with me.

I can't believe I'm sharing and making something like this seem like a HUGE event - as though I've climbed Mount Everest!! I used to do this routine sort of thing most days, and felt as though I was fitting 30 hours into a 24 hour day; I've addressed rooms with 200 people in them; given speeches, presentations, training courses.

I remember when Stephen Fry disappeared instead of turning up for the first night of his play. When he was found quite some time later, it turned out he'd had stage fright - panic attacks; I can recall it puzzled me.

Its so important to demonstrate that anxiety can bring down the strongest and biggest man - and its nothing to be ashamed of.

Patting you on the back now Sandie[^]

I have similar issues. I posted all my cards yesterday and bought my final two presents today. It was tough going out, but I knew it would be tougher if I left it.

I now feel like going to sleep!

well done Sandie. I did the big shop in tesco this morning. I had a huge trolley but the checkouts weren't too busy and I took my time, always the best way.
