    another cancer scare..

I noticed today that there's a lump right underneat my chin. It hurts when I touch it or press on it, but other than that, I don't notice it's even there. I'm not sick, so I don't know if it's a swollen gland.. my boyfriend says it's just a gland, but.. do we have glands there? Haha. Anyway, I REALLY don't want to have to go to the doctor again.. I've been there a LOT lately. I have an appointment on the 28th, but meanwhile.. I can't stop thinking that this is some kind of cancer.. can you get swollen glands if you're not sick???

Hi. I am not a Doctor but I don't think cancer lumps hurt when you touch them. I'd give it a few days to see if goes away or changes at all. I'd definately mention it when you next go to the Doctors though.

Where abouts on the chin is it?

It could be a cyst maybe.

Ok there are lymph nodes there that can swell but they are closer to the ear.

I have had a lump on my right side for many years but it has never changed and dosen't hurt.

Could be a cyst or a boil then.

    Hi halfway.

I don't suffer health anxiety but I have had this, on and off, more off than on, if you know what I mean, but on my right side of chin. When its there it is very sore to touch. It can be there for 2 days, 5 days a week. I always play a waiting game with myself and it does go.

I am sorry I can't tell you what it is, ohhh no help at all am I, but I have not had it in awhile. For me, if was anything really wrong, it would not come and go.

You are doing the right thing in seeing your gp, peace of mind goes along way. Please let us know how you get on, I will check this thread to see what your gp thinks.

Me myself, for me, I think its harmless.

I do hope your gp puts your mind a rest on this one halfway.

    You take care

    hi halfwayhome,

i had the same scare last year...i found a lump under my chin...i went to my gp who had a look at it and said it was a gland. despite this i was still worried coz i was also thinkin that glands only swell when we are sick, i kept pressing it and examining it to the point when it felt a bit painful..but guess wot few days later it wasnt there any more...it was a swollen gland after all.
mayb when the body is fighting of some minor infection it causes gland to swell.

mayb the reason why it is hurting is due to pressing it too much.

try to stop thinking bout it, itll dissapear wit out u realising it...i knw its easier said then done...but do try

Hi Halfway, ( Sorry put the wromg name in first of all) :-)

I have also had this, infact I get them quite a lot when i'm run down. I have mentioned it to the doctor before as they have been sore and I was told they were glands. Now when they come and go, I just ignore them.
