    Floating stool for weeks...worried!

    Hi!

This post is pretty graphic, sorry about that!

I have a problem with floating stools. Well, it’s actually not a problem in itself, but just something I find very strange, and I am wondering what could cause this.

For about 7-8 weeks ago, my stool suddenly started floating. It has normal colour and shape, so no change there. Well, maybe a little looser, and movements a bit more often than before (use to have 3-5 movements a week, now every day), but nothing drastic. And also, the stool appear to larger/longer than before. It is floating below the surface of the water, and will rarely sink after a couple of minutes, but not often.

Normally I wouldn’t pay any attention to this, but it is just so unlike me. My stools has ALWAYS sunk before, and I am worried that there might be something going on.

The biggest fear I have is of course pancreatic cancer, as this is suppose to be one of the symptoms. But I do not have any other symptoms, no weight loss or pain.
I have a Doctors appointment in a weeks time, but I just wondered if anyone has any experience with this? I have by the way experienced the exact opposite before, three months of constipation, with hard marble stools. This cleared up by itself eventually.

I am a bit worried, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

PS I am in my early forties BTW

    Regards

Have you changed your diet recently? Sometimes it can mean that there is a little bit more fat in your diet.

If a turd doesn't sink it just means that it has lots of fat in I making it buoyant, in the same way that a turd that sinks really fast hasn't got enough fibre.

    Hi

This is just a courtesy reply to let you know that your post was moved from its original place to a sub-forum that is more relevant to your problem.

This is nothing personal - it just enables us to keep posts about the same problems in the relevant forums so other members with any experience with the issues can find them more easily.
