Constant Nausea following 2 week cold turkey, then straight back onto 40mg

    Hi all,

So, 2 weeks ago I abruptly stopped taking my Citalopram. That day I was ripped off my Lorazepam and got so angry I decided enough is enough and I'm stopping all meds.

Didn't work. I finally caved in and started back on th citalopram 2 days ago. I was on 40mg before and went straight to 40mg again.

I was feeling nausea before, but since starting the Citalopram I'm even worse. All day I feel sick today where I'm sure I've been close to actually puking. I'm sat on my landing, lying on the carpet with a blow heater on me, because thats the only thing making me comfortable at the moment.

Is this normal given my situation?

Ps. I thought Citalopram withdrawal was a load of old **** .... is it heck. It's very real lmao, and nasty. Head zaps are the worst when you're having 1 every minute.

40mg is a large dose to start back on and going cold turkey is never recommended.

You will have to just sit this one out I am afraid.

wow straight back on to 40mg?? even after just 2 weeks then the side effects of that will be awful.....Maybe go back to the Doctors and ask for a lower dose and then build up again if you need it.

your symptoms are completely normal when going cold turkey off citalopram which is why you don't do it lol

Will be a massive shock to the system to say the least. Might be advisable to reduce to 30/20mg if side effects are really bad, but see what your doctor says.
