Re: 'Steve McDonald' in Corrie covering Depression!

Dr Bernat specialises in treating patients with acute stress disorder and can also offer assessment and treatment for EMDR.

    Special interests

Dr Bernats' special interests are in the areas of Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and Women's Mental Health. Being a Psychotherapist herself she can see families and individuals who are going through a crisis and are in need of psychotherapy.

She will need a big room to get all the fathers in

We thought we had got rid of her and CH5 worked to bring her back as she fits right in with their "agenda". Fake win on BB, now this car crash. She will probably spend it all talking in lurid detail about her sex life and slagging Peter Andre off. The latter seems to take up the majority of her time every year...when she can use his name to create some profile for herself. I can always remember watching the reality show they did when they were married and I don't know how he put up with her crap all the time.

They should have saved themselves some cash and got The Speakmans. Has the Delorean got a back seat?

A credible doctor at last? Or a "tame" one, if you get my meaning (does what she is told for the cash)

Steve was looking a bit worse for wear tonight. Liz moaned "he's on tablets" bit I think it was more to do with the spirit bottle be was drinking out of

They have a depression storyline going in Eastenders (the whole square could qualify ). I was shocked to see the GP recommending therapy but stating there was a 3 month waiting list (blimey some reality!) but then they redeemed themselves when she dished the pills out and told him to come back in a month (that's hardly NICE)

Apparently the actor playing Steve is taking a 3 month break due to "illness"-it's rumoured that playing a depressive has triggered a relapse of the actor's depressive illness.

Remembering lines must be a huge problem if the actor is suffering from anxiety/depression? As must concentration?

Oh God, it's Holby tonight-will Digby be cured yet or is it 2 weeks of grace he's got?

Digby is cured of not only his benzo issue but his whole panic disorder...again!!! what a load of crap. I thought they are supposed to put a lot of time in with real expert advisors over those medical dramas? I guess at least the knowledge of their "experts" matches what we all have to put up with in the NHS.

Triggered his depression? Wasn't it about all the attention be got when he was younger? Perhaps he may feel some regret for playing such a weak storyline that is more likely to make things worse than better for mental health causes?

I could only stomach the first 20 minutes then switched over to the football! It was pathetic and a real insult to true sufferers

I only say the last 25 mins. I saw him talking to Dom's dad whilst fishing. Then he was going to run off, then he came back and stuck up for Dom, they had a quick blast of the biggest cliche you could think of on karaoke "I will survive" and Digby gave Dom a kiss, then Dom's dad choked on a peanut...which was made worse by Digby trying to do the Heimlich and then he did a quick incission to let the peanut out. Result = Digby no longer has his long running (intermittent ) Panic Disorder!

I agree with you, pathetic and a real insult to true sufferers. I wonder if they get all the physical issues so badly wrong and annoy them too?

I don't understand why they bothered. I think more people will have learnt fishing tricks off Dom's dad!

Re: 'Steve McDonald' in Corrie covering Depression!

Poor old Bev has hit the wall with her depression again. She's having a couple of months off. It looks like it over the death of Anne who she was friends with.

I think she needs to be careful about her potentially libellous Tweeting moaning about the drug company pulling the med she was on. They don't just remove them like that, Bev. I would also want to know what the hell your doctor was doing since you went cold turkey because of this and they are only now looking for a substitute. Pretty shite doctoring in my opinion.

I was disappointed to read she found it hard to watch Steve go through depression on screen unless she meant as in she found it hard not to feel annoyed at the ludicrous portrayal?!

But I wish her well in her recovery.

Do we know which med she's talking about? There seems to be a bit more to this than meets the eye? Why do people have to resort to Twitter? Can't she just take the break from Corrie and recover in peace? Obviously not..It's a shame.

Re: 'Steve McDonald' in Corrie covering Depression!

I checked a few articles and couldn't see anything mentioned. Given she went into The Priory, she could be on anything we mere mortals cannot access.

The only time a drug gets pulled like she is making it is a product recall for various reasons, not because it's not making them enough money. That suggests to me that if this has happened it would mean a slow process of giving notice and the MHRA ensuring it was handled correctly due to allowing the prescribers being notified and them sorting out alternatives for their patients.

I think she is full of bull on this one. If that happened, maybe someone has lied to her? Her doctors may have done that in which case her family should complain but I don't see a drug company pulled a drug quickly. If they gave notice, why didn't her doctors sort her out? Why did she just stop meds? She isn't stupid, surely? She must know she needs to withdraw slowly or find something else? She has to take some personal responsibility for that and even if she walked in with a repeat prescription to be refused, she should be kicking her doctors arse for not telling her beforehand as he has the duty of care.

    It's very fishy to me.

I think celebs know that Twitter can be used for the same things they complain about themselves, spewing bile. Post & delete. The message gets out, the person feels they had their little victory. She hasn't named anyone, she's been very careful there but if it comes out which drug and it's linked to a company, I expect that Tweet will be deleted straight away as the company may set their solicitors on it.

There is an article stating her telling the truth behind her depression in a woman's mag. It may have just been lifted off the internet I guess.

Again, no mention of the drug in question. She does state her friends told her to get help.

So, she never once thought about talking to a doctor about this before? Sorry, that just doesn't scan in someone doing well. It would have been my first reaction.

Especially considering the first time it wasn't like us on the NHS, you checked straight into The Priory and ended up having ECT...which is at the end of the line for NHS patients. I guess with private like The Priory though, it's all done with a glass of shampers in hand

Hiding the real issue, whatever it may be, in my opinion. Either that or she is in some form of denial over her responsibility for her own mental health!
