Started on 50mg sertraline yesterday!

Hi everyone
I'm new to this forum.
I've been suffering with anxiety and now panic attacks!
Started on 50mg sertraline yesterday morning.
I had a terrible nights sleep!
I woke up several times with really bad cold sweats and trembling.
Is this normal?

It's very common to have those side effects but good news is that it goes after a few weeks, in which time you should start to slowly feel better moodwise. You do have to stick with it to see the benefits though. Not a quick fix I'm afraid.

Everyone reacts to medications in different ways. But to me that sounds pretty much exactly what Sertraline does. It can heighten anxiety at the beginning and that might be what's happening. It also affects sleep in a myriad of ways, it could be that bit of it. I have taken it for a handful of years now and have started and stopped a few times and it does have a few days of nastiness at the beginning for me, but it doesn't last too long. It might help to change what time of day you take it, but I'd give it a couple of days and see what (if any) other effects you get and when first. Maybe you'll be lucky and it will just be the one lot and now it's done.

Nearly the end of day 2 and no change in the cold sweats.
Hope it doesn't last for much longer.
Never had a problem with sleep but do now?

Day 4
Still having bad sleep patterns,one hour on one hour off.
Cold sweats and burning sensations on my arms.
Feeling very unrested when I wake up un the Mornings.

I'm on day 7 of 50mg sertaline. I've just started few cold night sweats but it's nothing major. I've been sleeping wel since being on this and also slightly more motivated... It could be a placebo effect but either way it's good.

Haven't experienced major side effects, first couple of days I was very spaced out but that passed.

How are u getting in now? I am in day 5 (2 at 25mg snd 3 on 50mg) x

Did u take diazapam too? My doc prescribed It to take edge of side effects and didn't really want to take it but I have. When I wake up I can't get back to sleep. But then I have hardly been out for 5 days except for 2 small walks :(
