    Re: under active thyroid

I also have an underactive thyroid, diagnosed in 2010 after some years of symptoms. I take a 50mg daily dose of thyroxine but sometimes feel I need more as some of the symptoms remain, and I cannot seem to shift the extra weight i've gained unless I starve myself which is a real pain, but my yearly blood tests apparently show that the levels are now normal again so the doctor doesn't suggest increasing the dose. My hubby had his thyroid removed some years ago and takes 150mgs a day and is fine. I wouldn't worry too much about it though, it can take a bit of time to get the right dosage sometimes but it sounds as if you are lucky enough to feel better already and that's great.

Yes.. know how that feels. I was on 125, then dropped to 100, then 125 again, now back on 100. Plays havoc with everything!!!! Had bloods done today. Lets see what that shows.

Had results back. specialist thinks Radio-iodine I had to destroy the Thyroid just stunned it!!!!Meds been reduced again to 50's. blood test in 6 weeks, then he'll decide whether to give me another Radio-iodine capsule or whip my Thyroid out.

Anxiety has disappeared since he reduced my Thyroid meds though.....in a way I knew there was something not quite right.

Feeling ok within myself thanks, but it's playing havoc with my hair. It's gone like 'Barbie' doll hair again, will have to have it cut short again!!

Is anyone else with Thyroid problems having hair issues??
