Confused Fibrocystic/dense breasts?

I have fibrocystic breasts and get cysts and doctors have told me I have nodular breasts on examination.

What I am confused and concerned about is, one one hand they say fibrocystic breasts are not a BC risk and they say dense breasts are?

Are fibrocystic breasts the same as dense breasts and why are they saying fibrocystic breasts don't increase your risk but density does.

I asked the tech who did my last mammo the same question re dense breasts. According to her, having dense breasts isn't a risk per se, it's just that it's harder for a radiologist to read the mammo when the breasts are dense because the dense tissue is so white, and you can't distinguish the lumps. Kind of like trying to find your white car in a blizzard.

Okay thanks. The thing is I'm not sure how clear my mammograms are as they never explained to me.. Think I will ask this time.

I had ultrasounds after to check if it was a cyst and it was x

I just think if they can't see anything, why do that particular test..

I find the techs not terribly informative as well. She answered my question about density and then her attitude was just slab the boob on the plate and be quiet.
