This may sound like a wired question but I'm getting a therapist and I was just wondering are therapists nice?

Mine was very nice.
Due to the nature of their work they have to be very good on interpersonal skills. They need to be able to create an environment where the client feels comfortable to talk to them about very personal issues and to build a strong rapport as the relationship between client and therapist is one of the the key issues to successful therapy.
At a minimum they have to be professional but its a career for people with a certain set of people skills.
For any therapy to work there does have to be a friendly connection between you both. If you feel that isnt there after a couple of sessions I would call a halt. Just my opinion ....
From my experience, therapists in general are very nice, caring people. I mean, it seems like it would be an odd field to go into if you aren't a nice person or didn't like being around people! To echo a few others, though, it's often about your connection with the therapist. A therapist could be very nice, but if you don't feel comfortable around them or "click" with them, then he or she might not be the right therapist for you.
