colonoscopy next week terrified

Hello, I just saw a gastroenterologist who said I probably have only ibs but wants me to have a colonoscopy because I am 41. He says he thinks he'll find nothing and that cancer colitis or polypes are very unlikely. But I am terrified all the same. I found a bit of mucusy blood today for the first time. I've suffered with HA for many years but this is the worst I've evwr been. I've been unwell with my tummy for two months after a tummy bug, doctor says post infectious ibs. I am terrified. Please help I just don't know how to get through this week:( HA is killing me.

Hi Nicola cancer ibd uc.all sinister things. Colonoscopy in itself doesn't scare me it's the result

I have Crohn's/Colitis and diverticular disease and IBS on top of all that.

So even if you are diagnosed with any of those you will still manage ok.

I would hazard a guess at you having IBS to be honest.

Like Nicola, I've got Crohn's and IBS.
It's not something you'd choose, obviously, but it's ok - I have 2 children and a busy life.
I'm sure the colonoscopy will be fine, but if it's not, it's unlikely to be cancer, given your symptoms.x
