breast implants and biopsy

anybody no what would happen if they have to do biopsy on breast lump if you have an implant. My implant is behind my breast tissue so would it be possible to have one normally or would I have to have the implant out. Just been to the drs becaused ive found a lump in that breast he has referred me to the breast clinic. sooo scared they will not be able to do a biospy on it and have to have major surgry just for the biospy does anybody know anything about it.

Are you sure they aren't going to do a mammo and/or ultrasound first?

thanks for your reply. I must admit i have jumped the gun a little. I had a lump removed from my other breast two years ago. It was not cancer it was a papalomia which can turn cancerous after a few years. So im assuming this is probably the same thing as it feels exactly the same. I dont have an implant in the one i had the op on two years ago. Only one implant on the side that they are checking this time. ( i have portland symdrome so one breast did not grow it stayed flat and the other grew as nomal so had an implant put in when i was 18yrs old then replaced again when i was 38). So maybe it wont come to even doing a biopsy let alone removing it. Just cant help letting my mind run away with me.

Sorry I can't be of any help. I sure hope a biopsy isn't necessary, but if they choose to do it they probably have experience with women who have implants and/or can do a needle aspiration.

Either way, good luck and remember that most lumps are benign--as you already know from your first go around.
