My friends and I want to start a blog and forum space. Do you know how we could do this for free? Or do we have to pay for hosting to do that? I'm doing my research and I'm not getting very far...

I don't know of any free forums.
There are free blog sites out there and you may be able to find one that will host it for free if you google.
