Going Back To Work

Hi everyone,

Just to say I'm starting back at work on Monday after being off since the end of last September (work related stress).

I'm going back on a staged return over 6 weeks, gradually increasing my hours. I work in an Intensive Care Unit.

I'm looking forward to it but I'll be honest and say I have lots of anxieties about it too!! I have no expectations about Monday apart from just getting in their and hopefully making it through the day - I have a couple of very supportive colleagues who have taken it upon themselves to be my "protectors" for the next few weeks!

I have found this site to be of great support over the past few weeks, dipping in and out and getting some insight into what this all feels like for other people too.

I'll let you know what happens.

Good luck Chris...a phased return is a really good way to ease back in. Just take it easy and dont put too much pressure on yourself. When I went back I increased by half a day each week. Has the situation or the circumstances which led to you being off sick been resolved?

i have worked on an ITU in the midst of some anxiety/stress related problems and made it through - now on oncolgy - talk about a glutton for challenging places to work
