5htp seretone

i have been on miritzaprine now for 3months and dont think they have helped me so trying to cut them down by taking 1x15mg at bedtime instead of 2.also i have taken 1x5htp seretone tonight will this have any bad reactions.also managed aLL day on 3/4of a diazepam instead of 2x2mgs.felt a bit shakey but managed to cope is there a alternative to diazepam which is not addictive?

You need to check about the 5htp - enter that and miritzaprine and/or seretone in the search facility on here to see if there are any posts as I can't remember the interactions.

I use Rescue Remedy.

I enquired about this in the past.

From what I can gather, 5HTP is NOT recommended with prescribed ADs (such as SSRIs), or even St Johns Wort (that was from the manufacturer). Having said that I am not sure what Miritzaprine is and do not know specific interactions with it.

The reason it is not advised to be taken with prescribed SSRIs is that the SSRI blocks the uptake of Seratonin and 5HTP helps to produce Seratonin. Thus a 'double whammy' of Seratonin over time.

In some cases this can lead to Seratonin Syndrome, which apparantely is none too nice.

I am not a doctor, please do your own research, but this is what I found out.
