    Anyone been here?

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone could tell me if they've been through this?

I've been waking up with one or the other hand (sometimes both) numb - pins and needles and somtimes several fingers are totally numb. This corrects itself as soon as I move my arms.

Then I started experiencing very slight sensations in my right hand and arm. Nowhere near pins and needles and certainly no numbness as far as I can tell (though in my anxiety I do feel the need to check). After a week and a half of total anxiety that it could be MS, I realized that the points on my right hand and arm where I would get these feelings is the exact points where the straps of my very tight rucksack scrape along my hand and arm evertime I put it on.

Also been having very slight visual oddness - I'm sure anxiety based and nothing major.

I have seen my heart specialist, a locum GP and had a full eye test. All have said this is probably nothing and doesn't sound like MS. Indeed my eye test was near perfect.

The problem is I getting odd pains and a little pins and needles in my right foot. My feet (and my hands at times) get really really cold and I get weird tension feelings in my feet. I also get the odd little small spot of tingling at various points on my leg.

My understanding of MS symptoms is that they have to last consistantly for at least a day and have to cover a signifigant area of the body (not a single finger or a small little 'spot'). These would suggest that whatever is going with me, its not MS. And yet I am still terrified. Like all of us, we could let go and stop worrying if the symptoms stopped.

Anyone had these symptoms? Anyone have anything to add that I should know?

    Thank you for reading!

    Chris

    Hi,

I had exactly the same symptoms as you, afew years ago, and was convinced I had MS, I would wake up every morning with pins and needles, wierd visual stuff etc. etc.
But you know what Now I'm convinced I've got heart disease, and it's so clear to me that if I had ms I wouldn't be able to shake my hand and the normal feeling would come back, if I had ms I'd be falling over a lot!
Since I realised all this, anxiety about ms diminished and eye and other wierd symptoms gone!!! (surprising hey?)But now I'm awaiting a heart attack, don't know what's worse, I almost want to keep my heart disease anxiety in case it's replaced with something worse (what a mad affliction this is!!!)
    Hope this helps slightly

    Hi Chris,

Only just seen this post of yours - just wanted to let you know that as well as having similar heart 'issues' as you - i also spent a good six months of last year convinced I had MS or motor neurone disease because of numbness/tingling/cramps in my arms and legs!! I think this was purely because of hearing from a freind of mine who's mum had been diagnosed with MND and because of where I was at with my anxiety last year - I developed ALL SORTS of weird and wonderful symptoms that were very real at the time. I was also very scared of cancers and brain tumours, spinal problems, strokes... and the list goes on...

I am very good at taking and unconsciously/unintentionally mimicking other peoples feelings (physical or emotional) - and i recognise that now (most of the time!!).

Anyway, just thought I'd reply to your post as it kind of made me smile!!
Hope you're ok - and NO I haven't taken the sotalol yet!!

    Hi Chris.

A few years back I went through exactly the same as you - tingling, numbness, pains in limbs, funny vision. Was totally convinced I had MS.

Eventually my GP referred me to a neurologist who did every check under the sun and found nothing wrong. All the symptoms I had were down to anxiety.

If you've been checked by a gp and they say there's nothing wrong then trust them. If they had the slightest doubt they would refer you on.

    Hope that helps.
