Hi All, Firstly I would like to thank you for all those lovely replies. I thought it would be nice to give you an update on how i am doing now... Well i am feeling much better, i seemed to have found alot my confidence in myself and my future. I am now doing a college course for the company in Hereford i volunteer for, I work in Schools once a week - Talking about Housing, Homlessness and where to find help etc. Always having my head stuck in books for more info and research etc . But i am really enjoying it. Very soon i will be starting a new 12 week counselling course to approach my Outreach/ Support Worker job. Looking forward to the challenge etc. Also i will be moving out of my shared/ supported shared house into my own flat or house within the next 6 months.. Yipee And overall i can't wait for my new way of life to fall into place!! (Not long now!! - I hope!) Take Care all...

Re: From Homeless to helping other vunerable people..

    Hi Everyone,
Well i thought it is about time i updated my story...

I have my own flat. I am still doing voluntary work for SHYPP and i have completed my Basic Counselling Skills. Recently i have been going to another centre which helps people with Maths, English and IT skills. Over the past 2 weeks i have become a volunteer there and i try to do 15 hrs each week there. I have also been told from the boss i will start getting paid for my work as i am helping others in as many ways as possible.
Back in May/ June i felt ready to go back into full time work. So i started applying for as many jobs in and round Hereford. Even up to 25 in 1 day! Boring but had to be done! LOL
I applied mainly for Support Work and now i work for an agency. I have an interview tomorrow morning for a Support worker and Outreach/Floating Support at the same place. I can't wait as the position is virtually guaruanteed!!! Yippee..
It is well paid and as i've said before the importance of it is that i get to see people less fortunate enjoying their life to the maximum!!
I've been through alot and i shall use this to my advantage to understand better about other people.

I will say now that i am sorry i havn't been on here for a while as being busy with my future etc. But importantly this forum has helped me loads and loads As i wouldn't be here today without this!

    Well Take Care All...
