so I suffer from health anxiety and after a month of a terrible state of constant panic, my doctor gave me escitalopram 10mg to take once a day. I was very worried about side effects and feeling worse before feeling better... but I'm on day 5 and I find myself a lot better than before !
I'm motivated again for my course and I have started reading a bit more, I'm less scared of going to sleep, I still have aches but they don't make me go completely crazy thinking I'm about to die.
I still feel some anxiety about sleeping or going out, but overall I feel like I can finally enjoy some things again. I also still have the odd irrational fear of "if I don't worry about my heart/brain/whatever, they'll stop working".
My question is, is it possible that the meds are already working for me? The doctor told me it would take 2 weeks to work.
I'm afraid I didn't need them and I wasn't that sick in the first place, that I exagerated everything and I don't need or deserve to be on those meds. Maybe I would have improved without them? Or is it placebo effect ?
I'd be grateful for any opinion on this
