    Therapy

    Hi

    I suffer with social phobia and panic attacks, just wondered..when i saw my doc for more beta blockers i asked if i could have some kind of therapy but she said i'd be waiting ages on the nhs to see someone and gave me the number of a local counselling service. Is it counselling i need? i just wish someone could help, someone i could talk to about this on a regular basis. Does hypnosis work? And i've heard of something called incognitive behaviour therapy?

    Its worth her putting you on the long NHS list but if you're able to pay for some therapy meanwhile it'll be beneficial to you.

    Cognitive behaviour therapy is the gold standard for anxiety and panic at present . The most important factor is that the person who choose you like and has experience in your issues ie social phobia.
    Most do 1/2 free introductory session to see whether you can work together .

    Hypnosis can be very helpful too but CBT is more recognised as sorting out initial issues with hypnosis later to help anchor new thought patterns.
