    Sudden overwhelming tiredness

Is it a form of panic attack when you suddenly feel weak and fatigued but not tired? I get this feeling come over me where I feel like my whole body is heavy like I will pass out and it feels like my chest is heavy and I can't breathe. I feel a tightness in my upper stomach just under my breast bone. I thought panic attacks were adrenaline fuelled so I don't understand these "weakness" attacks. Does anybody else get panic attacks like this? I don't even know if it is a panic attack but whatever it is keeps coming and going and especially if I know I have to go somewhere I am anxious about going. Then I start panicking about having no energy.

It's not tiredness... I don't want to sleep. I know what tired feels like and it's not this. It's so hard to ignore this crap once it comes on. Anyone else feel this?

Hi, yes I also get this. Usually after a bad panic attack I become immediately very tired but also other times I suddenly feel tired all at once for no reason (or feel like my eyes are trying to force themselves shut), that usually causes me to panic in itself.

I also get this feeling after a panic attack. I reckon it's all the tension draining away... Anxiety can be really exhausting

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. As much as I hate to hear it happens to others, it's also reassuring I'm not alone. I definitely get tiredness after an attack too but panic manifesting as tiredness is new to me. My own theory was I might have adrenal fatigue and this is now a panic attack for me because my body is going into a panic mode but there's insufficient adrenaline. I have no idea.

Murphy I get the head pressure with this as well. It's either head or chest pressure.
Nikki Louise I think we are having the same experience. It feels like my
body will shut down and it does make me want to stay at home because I worry about being out and having no energy. This no energy / fainting feeling scares me so much I guess this tiredness MIGHT be a form of panic attack since we get symptoms related to what we fear the most? I've had this awful sudden weakness in the doctors office and he wasn't concerned, I've been checked for asthma and had blood tests, but not knowing HOW anxiety can cause this is making me more anxious.

Icingsugar- the eyes wanting to close feeling makes me panic as well. I've spent days googling in the past "does tired eyes make your body feel tired?" My grandma told me if the eyes are tired the whole body is tired. I spend all day looking at screens so I wonder if there's a connection. I also wonder if anxiety makes our eyes tired. During past attacks I have panicked because it felt like my eyes were being pushed outward. Eyes are nerves, too. Anxiety can do so much..

Nikkilouise, do these weakness feelings affect your breathing in any way?

I get this too. Its like out of nowhere my body is suddenly drained of all energy. My eyes become really heavy too. My mind isn't tired but my body is physically exhausted and I panic. It only lasts a few minutes and then afterwards, I am back to my normal energy levels again. I get this a few times a week even if I have just ate. I've always just classed it as a panic attack. I last had it a few days ago when I was driving home from the garden centre.
