The scan can show thickening of the skin, a classic sign of IBC, which can promote the doctors to do further testing. The ladies in the forum say that IBC progresses really quickly so after 2 weeks you'd know if it was getting worse and go back to the doctor?
Basically just think that the skin on your breast is like skin everywhere else - you can get spots, marks, patches etc and the majority aren't anything sinister... I know it is easy to say that and much harder to apply that thought process - I certainly can't :/
Mine is basically this: In February I got out of the shower and saw a red mark (a little but scaly) but mostly flat just near my nipple, went to see a nurse, gave me an anti fungal cream. Went back to see doctor and he gave me a stronger anti fungal. After this, I saw 2 more doctors, neither of whom saw any cause for concern but the last one saw how anxious I was so referred me to breast clinic anyway. Got the appointment through for breast clinic and went there, the creams had taken the redness away a bit, and the specialist at the breast clinic did not even do any scans... He said categorically it was not anything to be alarmed about.
That was 10 months ago and the mark has lost its redness and now is pigmented... Nobody is taking me seriously :/ went to the doctors on Wednesday and he couldn't even see the area in talking about and then said the main issue was my anxiety... The patch is super obvious to me but nobody else seems to see anything major...
