Day 3 on sert.how to keep going ?

I was on Sertraline and started at 50mg. It took 9 weeks to start to work for me and the start up side effects to ease and I thought i can't do this but I stuck it out and I am so glad I did. After 9 weeks I woke up suddenly calmer, happier, more confident even and I had a good 18 months of being able to go out, even volunteer, socialise. It was a lifesaver. The start up side effects aren't nice but say if this works what's a few weeks feeling crappy for maybe longterm feeling well? The dizziness, nausea, palps, insomnia, sweating etc all completely normal and will settle down I promise xx

For the side effects to pass ! Did you stop taking the sert after 18 months ?

Cat80 glad you found it worked, it's what's keeping me going. 1 week in little bit anxiety, finding myself trying to keep myself busy, out for walks, cleaning! Anything to be occupied. I haven't got sweats but feel really hot, lots of open windows and time outside!

Hope everyone's continuing to make progress. Today is the best I've felt in days, had a good sleep and pretty much no anxiety today at all. I've used today to make myself a list of things to do taking me into the new year. More a plan of daily walks, healthier eating etc. I've gone from dreading starting the new year like this to thinking right I'm going to make a difference

Hi cookbook- sounds like your making good progress which is encouraging for me as your slightly ahead. I've done a full week now and feel calmer although still a bit of nausea at times especially on waking. It can only get better !

How long generally are people on this for? I know everyone's different but just wondered. Done my first new year without a glass of wine, it's funny how good I feel, enjoyed my time as much as friends full of drink!

Hi All

been on and off this site for years now, tend to stay away a bit when anxiety is keeping its head down so as not to start it off ... however like most of us on here im going through another episode and have been put on 50mg of sertraline a day am on my 12th day with the tablets i tend to take them around mid day early afternoon .... first week was weird as i just felt weird but most of the time in a good way as i was calling them my happy pills ... 2nd week ... im tired just plain tired all the time, have a knot of anxiety in my stomach all the time ... not so many palps but then i had a horrible panic attack when going to bed new years eve ... i had had a bottle of fruit cider and also taking settlers as i have gas issues ( had gastric band fitted 3 years ago ) ... having read the posts so far i will continue with these tablets but does the tiredness ease up ?? i used to have sleep apnea but it went when i lost a lot of weight ... in feeling tired as i do its making me question whether the sleep apnea is back but then i didnt feel tired like this before i took the tablets ???

Hi all hope you dont mind my input.. i was prescribed sertraline 50mg 7 week ago for anxiety.. i was so scared to take it so i halved it and took 25mg for the first 2 week.. didnt feel too bad.. then increased to 50mg now for 5 weeks.. had a few good days but these last 3 have been awful anxious, panicky, jittery, hot sweats you name it:( not sure if it still the side affects of the tabs or whether i need to increase and if so will go to 75mg.. back to docs in two weeks and will ask.. hoping it gunna settle down cos i felt like i had started to turn the corner. is it still early days?? good luck all continue to improve. Happy new year all. x
