6 months on after relapse - Doing Well

This morning I realized it has been 6 months since I relapsed with anxiety and depression. Partly due to coming off my meds and partly due to life's pressure.

So I got back on the meds, went through the side effects, experienced high anxiety all day long and lack of sleep. Obviously then depression settled in as well and we all know how things go after that.

So for all of you out there going through similar, here I am 6 months on!

Work is busy and while I wake up anxious some days because I have important things to do at work, it just passes once I'm in and getting on with things.

My therapist says Anxiety is a messenger! It is actually telling you that you need to take a certain action. So I listen to my messenger and get on.

I'm studying part time and having taken my last exam I feel confident and content! I have 8 essays to do by end of August but that is something very manageable.

Life outside work and study is busy with friends, long weekend trips and in general fun, enjoyable things.

So persevere people! It passes and we have the power to get through it.

Build your support network, talk to them and distract yourself from the feelings and sensations. Acknowledge them but don't delve into them more.

It's not a case of it will pass but it's a case of it DOES pass.

Have a great day and keep persevering.

    Hey congrats!

So pleased you posted this! I feel quite hopeless at the moment so it's good to hear stories like this.

What has helped me is military discipline on following the steps to recover.

    Structure in your day
    Take your meds religiously
    Eat properly
    Have a support network
Take it easy, don't make any major, significant decisions and don't add stressors to your day to day life

It DOES pass, you WILL get better!
