Dudley Moore: Do you feel you've learnt by your mistakes here?
Peter Cook: I think I have, yes, and I think I can probably repeat them almost perfectly.

I loved the belgariad series, I was pretty new to fantasy when I read them and they really cemented my love for the genre.

Thanks Scass. I will have to get onto them soon then.
Have you read any of Trudy Canavan's fantasy? I've read the Black Magician's trilogy and Priestess Of The White. Very similar to Eddings.
I've only got one of Robin Hobb's so far, Dragon Keeper, which was also good.

I’ve read her 1st series but it was a long time ago, haven’t read any since.
I love Robin Hobb. Read 3 of her trilogies back to back earlier this year.

Ive just finished reading 'Factfulness' :-
ive read the factfulness book and it made interesting reading. It dealt with misconceptions and mega misconceptions and I got what it was saying that for most people on the planet things are better than 20,50,100 years ago. It doesnt deal with the point about the increasing gap between rich & poor though and does feel (I know feelings are not facts) like it could be used to excuse huge inequalities between people on the basis that generally your life is better, ignoring that your life could be even better if inequality is tackled. An interesting read though.
