How long to leave before taking citalopram after taking 5htp?

I'm gonna start taking citalopram again after been off it nearly 3 weeks as I'm pretty certain I'm experiencing discontinuation syndrome even though I was only on 10mg's I'm gonna try 5mg's and see if the withdrawal symptoms go. The question I have is that I have been taking 5htp for a week and I know it has a very short half life(literally a couple of hours) but how long should I leave it as I need to do something fast and I'm sure it can't make me feel much worse than I do now.
