Hi Noivous - But I had such a complete education about the American West watching television as a child in the late 1950s and directed by John Ford I think 1960s.

There was a delay of around 7 - 10 years before big screen movies made it onto television in those days (they could still be shown in suburban cinemas). This meant all the classics were broadcast to receptive youngsters - John Wayne hits like Stagecoach, The Searchers, Rio Bravo, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Fort Apache ...

And then there were the television series: Hopalong Cassidy ("Here he comes..!), The Cisco Kid ("Eh Cisco?" "Eh Pancho?" [they both laugh]), Davy Crockett, The Lone Ranger, Zorro, Wagon Train, Rin Tin Tin, Old Yeller, The Rifleman, Rawhide, Bonanza ... and who could forget F Troop? It's all soaked into my DNA.

Hahaha! Ok you're in! You forgot Matt Dillon and Festus though. Some great movies you named there Hanshan. The Searchers was an all time classic. another great western I liked a lot was The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Classic scene in the restaurant between Good and Evil John Wayne and Lee Marvin.

I can still hear John Wayne saying "that's my steak Valance" absolute classic.

You know...John Ford is considered by many of his contemporaries as the greatest director of all time.

I forget exactly who it was but there was some very well-known director of movies once asked who the top three directors of all time were and he said that's easy John Ford John Ford and John Ford
