    Councilling - thoughts ?

I'm thinking of getting councilling sooner rather then later as doctors are a nightmare to get into ! Just wondered what people's experiences have been like and have they helped ?

    Re: Councilling - thoughts ?

I experienced some depression and "scanxiety" after my health issues. While mental health issues were my family, I personally wasn't affected prior to my physical illnesses. My experience with others concerning mental health enabled me to recognize I needed help.

I found therapy very beneficial. That along with meds helped me get out of depression after my first heart attack and more recently (the last two years), helped me to deal with the trauma of cancer. I had one on one counseling and did some online CBT work. The CBT has been beneficial in everyday stressful situations as well.

So definitely a YES from me and don't be adverse to meds either. For me, the meds acted like a pair of crutches helping me to walk until I could do so on my own. I currently keep a non SSRI chill pill on hand that I can take when needed.

    Positive thoughts
