    perimenopause - symptoms

    hi
i hadnt thought before that i could be perimenopausal as my periods are still regular but they are heavier and have more clots.
but ive been reading about this and alot of the symptoms ring a bell with me, the moody, snappy, forgetful, feeling hotter, not sleeping properly, headaches and so on.

im due my period any time now and ive got a lower back ache and my bum cheeks ache is this normal to get aches when your due on?

the lower back ache seems normal but the bum cheeks aching seems weird to me? is this anything to do with this ? anyone else had this?

also the anxiety !!! omg does yours increase ?

what are your symptoms? whats strange symptoms did you have?
my anxiety is high at the min so all symptoms ect are making me worry like crazy

    xx

I'm having all the same symptoms as you and although being checked out for other possible causes, I think it is perimenopause. I get aches in my bum cheeks too and at the top of my legs. The anxiety is awful. I find it difficult to even go out of the house to the local shop! Drives me up the wall!

I'm also having lots of these symptoms!

Increased anxiety, headaches, periods can be light one month super heavy the next, feeling hotter than usual, pains in my thighs and also my bottom moody at certain time...more so than usual and I have been feeling a little light headed too.

Also feeling a little more forgetful!

I'm only 37 but I have read peri menopause can start in your 30s and I'm wondering if this is what I'm dealing with.....

You guys just described every one of my symptoms to a T. I'm only 37 and didn't think it could affect me this early? Now I'm wondering if my symptoms are at least partly related to this?

im glad im not the only one who has these symptoms

from what ive read the list of symptoms is quite long and affect everyone differently, i spoke to the nurse at my gp's surgery when i went for my smear and she said that the marina coil often help ladies to balance their hormones.
i went away and thought about it for a bit but i dont fancy the coil so i went and spoke to her again about the mini pill and she said that helps as well, so she put me on the mini pill for 3 months to see how i get on and then go back and get more if it help.

fingers crossed the mini pill helps to settle things down a bit for me, things arent too bad which im pleased about but i really do want to feel normal again.

hope things settle down for you all as well

Any difference so far on the mini pill Kellie?

I'm seeing the GP tomorrow to discuss whether I am in perimenopause and that's causing all of my out of control anxiety.

Not sure if I can take the pill though as I smoke, which I'm going to have to stop as I've read it makes everything to do with menopause a lot worse!

    Hi again Kellie,

The GP gave me the mini pill also as apparently just progesterone is more helpful in the early stages, plus I smoke (need to stop!). That said, she messaged me this morning following blood tests and my thyroid is out of whack (has been in the past) which may be the reason for the not sleeping, terrible anxiety and lack of body temp control. Thing is, last time I had wonky thyroid levels when I saw the specialist he said they shouldn't be causing any symptoms as it was off but at a subclinical level.

My FSH levels were normal but the GP said that wasn;t the most reliable test for female hormones as it can fluctuate on a daily basis. Only a high result would have indicated I am definitely starting perimenopause. So not sure now whether to take the mini pill anyway as it may still level things out a bit.

So I'm feeling really unwell and a bit hopeless. Seeing psychiatrist tomorrow though so she may have some suggestions as I assume she will be familiar with these things even though its not her field.

    hi
how are you feeling now? my gp said that your thyroid can make you feel like that as well and i did have mine tested ( sent me into a right panic and anxiety in overdrive) but it was ok.
ive started the mini pill about 5 days ago now so too early to tell although i have been feeling a bit low and moody but hoping thats more to do with my period than the tablets but my mood does usually lift once ive come on my period but this time is hasnt yet, so fingers crossed my mood will get better soon.
i am due to start counselling soon and really hoping that will help.
how did you get on with yours?
i hope the tablets help you and you can start to feel more normal, feeling unwell and helpless is so horrible isnt it.
    xx

    Re: perimenopause - symptoms

    Hi kellie,

It's hard to narrow things down as I have quite a lot going on but a week and a bit into taking the mini pill and I am completely exhausted. I have Chronic Fatigue anyway but it's not usually this bad. Also have sore boobs.

My thyroid results are apparently 'subclinical' so shouldn't be affecting me. However the GP messaged me yesterday to come and have the tests done again so maybe it's something that goes up and down a lot?

So still early days, just really really tired :(
