    Appointment phobia

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone might have any suggestions for how to make appointments more bearable?
I get incredibly anxious before appointment, mostly doctors appointments, and in the appointments I can't speak, I can't access any information and I quite often feel dizzy, sick and overwhelmingly anxious.
I have my first appointment with a psychiatrist coming up sometime in the near future. I don't know when this is yet, but I am terrified. I can see the benefits of going to the appointment, so I feel like I should go, but I'm just not sure that I can. I'm not normally overly emotional but even thinking about this appointment makes me feel panicky and want to cry.
Has anyone got any tips on things they have found that make appointments more bearable?

    Thanks

I try and plan something after an appointment and keep as busy as i can, think of it as just something to cross of the calendar.
