Has anyone here discovered that their anxiety was caused by trauma? I had several traumatic losses over the course of a few years, including one situation that put my Mom and me in constant physical danger from someone we were caring for (he had dementia, and often became agitated to the point of violence). While I was still reeling from these traumatic experiences, I managed to get married, finish my university degree, and have a baby. Then things changed when I started paying attention to other young parents, like me, who were diagnosed with and/or dying of cancer. Suddenly, my anxiety was triggered, and I've been vulnerable to it ever since (with a lull during most of 2015). Now it's back again, and I'm about to start counseling, and I hope my counselor will explore the link between trauma and anxiety. I read about that link here, in case anyone's interested:
