I wanted to share something my therapist said while I was dealing with some depression and "scanxiety" after my illnesses.
The main part is that you need to already be moving forward. In other words, being in therapy, on meds and practicing the techniques you're learning/have learned.
As with everyone, we have good days and not so good days. It's often difficult to navigate the blips and setbacks and we tend to get down on ourselves.
He said "Think of your recovery both mentally and physically like a jet on autopilot. You know the destination and you know what you have to do. When a jet is on autopilot, it has to constantly make adjustments due to wind speed, air traffic or weather. Your recovery is a lot like that. On the way to your destination there may be delays. You'll have to make adjustments, corrections and maybe have to land to take on more fuel, but know that eventually you'll get there safe and sound."
