Thread: more interaction

    more interaction

    Hi,
I have only been a member for a short while
but I notice that the interaction between members overall is minimal...and I wonder if there is a reason for that?
I like interaction from time to time...how about you?
Perhaps some people lose interest after a while or the general lack of interaction puts people off from talking with each other?
its so nice to get a reply even if its just a simple Hi.
and most of us seem to have things in common with anxiety problems
so we have a basis for conversation.

    Re: more interaction

    Hi Fedup,

I think that when people come on here and post often it's when they are at their worst and so they are less likely to feel up to replying to other people's posts. I'm a bit that way, sometimes I feel up to posting and sometimes I don't. I've had posts with few replies and even some with none. But other threads go on and on, people are definitely interacting in there.

Sometimes you can start something off with a simple question, even nothing to do with anxiety, and that will get people responding.

    I agree with Shazamataz.

The nature of a mental health forum is that many members just are not up to personal, more intimate interaction with others here, even if we are all in the same boat....things like personal messaging for example.

In terms of interacting through replies, I agree that a hi may be all others are looking for, or a 'I share your worries'. Often people don't get replies because that particular member can't relate or offer any guidance or advice, but something is better than nothing at all IMO.

In terms of personal contact and messaging, I have had some lovely interactions with other members, but when my anxiety and depression is at it's worst, I just can't face it. I think that is pretty common though - it is the nature of these conditions.

    Re: more interaction

Anyone ever notice how a post can ask about a certain issue then the post just takes on a life of it's own and tge original question seems to get list in the conversation...I kinda like when that happens.

There is always the chat room, or the FB page. I think the sheer number of members/posts can make it difficult. However both those places I've mentioned provide more interaction.
