Am I that old?
Bump
Pedal pushers are those women's trousers/shorts - just below the knee I think. I'll have to guess Twiggy cut - 60s version of the Rachel cut named after Twiggy?
Anyone remember 'why don't you?'
Pip
Not drowning, but waving

god yes, the theme was something like `why don`t you switch off your tv set and go out and do something less boring` at a rate of knots! it was like blue peter run by kids as I remember.
I remember using a small flat cassette recorder with a microphone on a little `V` shaped stand right by our huge heavy wood cased telly to record the Jam whenever they were on top of the pops. and the telly had buttons that had to be pressed in about two inches to change channels - 3 channels in total which went off with a high pitched noise at midnight in case you left it switched on!
eeeh kids these days. sky telly, mobile phones. putting a clothes peg on your bike forks to make it sound like a motorbike was considered quick slick round our estate
Junior Showtime?
Crackerjack?
I used to like It's A Knockout with Eddie Waring and errr the other one who is now incarcerated
Hi Pipkin
You are correct about the pedal pushers
And yes, the Twiggy cut was named after Twiggy, a model in the 60's. She had an unusual haircut, there were no bangs, chin length hair on one side and very short on the other. It quickly became very popular.
Thanks
twiggy was also in one of my all time favourite films `the blues brothers` from 1980 still looking beautiful, and today she doesn`t look much different. also comes over very unaffected and kind.
crackerjack - yes, you won a crackerjack pencil if you did well from much missed leslie crowther.
I also loved `we are the champions` which was basically a swimming gala run by ron pickering, at the end he`d wind up the show by saying `away you go!` which was a cue for all the kids to bomb into the swimming pool to celebrate.
probably rose tinted glasses or fading memory but I miss those days
I remember the rabbit ears on the TV, before cable.
