Backpacking with anxiety

Hi there

I'm still getting used to this website so sorry if this wrong or something
So I've just travelled all the way across the world to Melbourne, Australia for a year and I'm struggling . I've always wanted to travel and felt lost at home so I wanted to explore, challenege myself and hopefully become happier. I've just moved into a new hostel today, put my bags in and left for a park that I've been sitting in for the last hour. I can't bring myself to go back. I feel so lonely and feel I can't do this. I've been with staying with a friend for 10 days so I could settle etc but I don't think it helped. It just delayed me facing my fear and although he's my friend he's not someone you can turn to with my anxiety and depression.
Im just wondering if anyone else has been in the same boat. I know I need to face my fears and go and talk to people and once I make friends it'll be fine but every time I think of it I cry and can't move. I feel so lonely and its making me think to come home
